Dutch 230 SL Pagode 1965 restoration project

I've been working on assembly of the front brakes.
The RH back side of the car is already smooth, the LH side is in progress but nearly ready.

 

All dents from the body have been removed now.
But like the trunk lid, the bonnet is also pretty dented.

 

The heat exchanger is also like new again.

 

I am amazed about how complex the lock and window mechanism is, inside the doors!

 

Cleaning parts gives a lot of satisfaction.

 

I bought a set NOS tools for the Pagode.
Of course with the intention never to use it. ;D

 

I could buy this cheap, so it's no problem for me when it's not complete. May be I try to find the rest, but it doesn't have the highest priority.

 

I cleaned a lot of parts of the dashboard which were covered with MB-Tex.
Now I will try to find new MB-Tex (or similar) with the color code 2102 (white gray).

 

Today I brought the Pagode to an aluminum specialist.
He will make the bonnet, tailgate and doors without dents and bumps again.

 

This layer of copper is necessary to create a nice and shining front bumper.

 

That will look very nice indeed!

 

I'm just an amateur who likes to restore cars. My first project was a VW T1 Splitscreen bus and now the 230 SL.
All the pictures are for my own collection, but because I have learned a lot from other projects, I decided to show my restoration process also to others.

 

Today I took the seats apart.
I'm pleasantly surprised about the ingenious constructions.

 

The wiper mechanism was rusted and moved stiff.
Everything is now protected against rust and all the rotating parts are lubricated.

 

It's nice that some parts still can be bought.
